My name is Emma and I have been working in coaching and educational roles for over twenty years. I have worked in public, private, primary and secondary schools. I have a wealth of experience and have worked in leadership roles within the primary sector for a vast majority of that time. I have worked in really happy schools and some really tough ones, which have all given me priceless experience. I work with schools are really successful and use my services to keep themselves in check. And I also work with schools who are going through a tough time and need help.
I work with Heads 1:1, SLTs and whole schools. I can work with you publicly or privately. I offer regular hourly 1:1 sessions, staff meetings/INSET and multi-day packages.
I offer bespoke training for schools in wellbeing, menopause awareness, writing, and team collaboration.
Here is some key information about me:
I approach all schools in an honest, non-judgemental way, to ensure openness so that I can deliver the training that's really needed.
And that's why I'm the person you need.
I come to you as a specialist to train staff on their own wellbeing, on menopause awareness, on your own leadership collaboration needs or on your writing curriculum and Year 6 writing moderation. See the Services and Training tab for specifics. I offer SLT-only work, whole-staff work, staff meetings and INSETs.
I live in Gloucestershire and offer services within Gloucestershire, Bristol, Oxfordshire and Worcestershire, but can travel to schools further afield following discussion.
I talk to staff (and children if addressing writing) and unpick how they feel about their experiences at school in a confidential, low-stakes approach.
I tell you how it is, like it is, in a reflective way that you can genuinely act upon.
Through my knowledge and experience I began to see very quickly when visiting schools that Head Teachers need a person to help find out how people really feel at work and what we can genuinely do about it; school staff need to understand how their own brains work in high-stress situations; staff need to have the knowledge to be able to take responsibility for their own self-awareness and wellbeing; and lastly, we really need to be educated on the menopause. Everyone needs this training. The menopause is an experience that 51% of the world's population will experience, yet so little is known about it.
Contact me to discuss the training I can provide during staff meetings or INSET days to help you provide a better colleague offer to your staff.
Just think for a minute how you are feeling whilst you are on this website.
Really think.
There is so much to prove within a school setting. It is often the case that you need to put on the brave happy face that keeps everyone going - a mask, if you like.
For you to get the most out of my services and the processes that I adopt, you will need to be open and honest in the confidential space that I give you, and you'll need to safely remove that mask whilst we work in our safe space together.
You may be an established leader of a brilliant school, where you know that you give your colleagues an excellent wellbeing offer, and you are pursuing my services to enhance that.
You may be a leader of a school that is not on the right path and you need to use my services to get back on track.
You may be new to a school that has had very poor and inconsistent leadership, which has resulted in an uncertain staffing team who lack trust in their leaders. Now is the time to use my wellbeing services to identify the areas for improvement that can be made to bring stability to your school.
Whatever your journey has brought you, I can help.
Okay, I love data. I love looking at whole-school data, identifying trends, following them on a thread to slowly pull. I also love looking at whole-school curriculum approaches. But I've done all of that in the past, and frankly there are a lot of great school improvement partners who will come and look at all of that for you, who most-likely already work as part of your MAT or council offer for school improvement.
But that's not where my real passions lie. I live and breathe writing, writing processes, writing moderation and everything writing. People often seem fearful of writing because it is so subjective, there is no set way to do it, and let's face it, it's not exactly prescribed to the hilt, full of detailed objectives, like maths is, in the National Curriculum.
My love for the human brain and how we behave, cope, perceive and reflect in the teaching industry is also something that is massively overlooked in terms of staff wellbeing and work-life balance.
My own experiences with the menopause, and research and theory from nurses, gynae specialists and industry experts have helped me to produce my menopause training. Wellbeing CPD and Menopause training should be an essential part of your offer to your staff.
So, in a nutshell, what I don't do is your bog-standard school improvement stuff.
I do the stuff that will make a difference to everyone else on your team.
