My name is Emma, and I have been working in coaching and educational roles for over twenty years. My experience spans public, private, primary, and secondary schools, where I have held leadership positions in the primary sector for a significant portion of that time. I have encountered both really happy schools and some challenging environments, all of which have provided me with invaluable experience.
I specialize in educational coaching, collaborating with schools that are successful and using my services to maintain their standards throughout the academic year. I also support schools facing difficulties, whether it's providing assistance to a Head Teacher on a 1:1 basis, working with an SLT or department, or addressing the needs of an entire school.
I work with Heads 1:1, SLTs, and whole schools, offering flexibility to work publicly or privately on your terms. My services include regular hourly 1:1 sessions, staff meetings/INSET, and multi-day packages.
Additionally, I provide bespoke training for schools in wellbeing training, menopause awareness, writing, and team collaboration.
Here is some key information about me:
I am a working mum with two children. I understand the challenges of putting on a brave face while in a position of authority, striving to keep staff motivated. I offer 1:1 educational coaching for Head Teachers who require a soundboard that is external, experienced in educational leadership, and separate from their own staffing structure.
I deliver engaging, educational training to entire schools, providing actionable feedback to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) on how to enhance staff wellbeing through wellbeing training. I collaborate with schools that have faced inconsistent leadership, resulting in a lack of trust, belief, and ownership in the school's vision moving forward. Additionally, I work with schools that recognize the importance of maintaining excellence by offering their staff a comprehensive package that prioritizes health and wellbeing both in and out of work. This is where wellbeing training and menopause awareness come into play.
I am excellently qualified, holding a First Class Psychology degree, a PGCE from a prestigious university, NPQLL certification, and I am a CPD accredited mindset coach, as well as a menopause specialist and a proud Teaching Associate of the Best Practice Network.
I am not your typical school improvement advisor; I have established this business to assist schools in areas where others may lack knowledge and expertise, allowing me to make a significant, long-term impact on teachers.
I approach all schools in an honest, non-judgemental manner to foster openness, ensuring that I deliver the training that is truly needed.
And that's why I'm the person you need.
I come to you as a specialist in educational coaching, ready to train staff on their own wellbeing, enhance menopause awareness, address leadership collaboration needs, or refine writing curriculum and Year 6 writing moderation. For specific details, please refer to the Services and Training tab. I offer tailored SLT-only sessions, whole-staff training, staff meetings, and INSETs.
Based in Gloucestershire, I provide services across Gloucestershire, Bristol, Oxfordshire, and Worcestershire, with the flexibility to travel to schools further afield upon discussion.
In a confidential, low-stakes approach, I engage with staff (and children when focusing on writing) to explore their feelings about their experiences at school.
I communicate honestly and reflectively, providing insights that you can genuinely act upon.
Through my extensive knowledge and experience, I quickly recognized that Head Teachers often need support to uncover how their staff truly feel at work and what actionable steps can be taken. It's essential for school staff to understand how their brains function in high-stress situations and to take responsibility for their own self-awareness and wellbeing. Furthermore, educating everyone on menopause awareness is crucial, as this is an experience that 51% of the world's population will face, yet it remains widely misunderstood.
Contact me to discuss the wellbeing training I can provide during staff meetings or INSET days, helping you create a better colleague offer for your staff.
Additionally, I work directly with children—please see the WELLBEING FOR CHILDREN tab for more information.
Just take a moment to reflect on how you're feeling while navigating this website.
Really think about it.
In an educational setting, there is often a significant amount of pressure to present a brave, happy face - a mask, if you will. This is where my educational coaching can come into play.
To truly benefit from my services and the wellbeing training I offer, you will need to be open and honest in the confidential space I provide. It's essential to safely remove that mask as we work together in our supportive environment.
You might be an established leader at a thriving school, where you know you offer your colleagues an excellent wellbeing program, and you're seeking my services to enhance that even further.
Alternatively, you could be leading a school that is currently off track, and you require my expertise to help guide it back to a positive path through educational coaching.
Perhaps you're new to a school that has experienced poor and inconsistent leadership, leading to a staff team that lacks trust in their leaders. Now is the perfect time to utilize my wellbeing services to pinpoint areas for improvement, including menopause awareness, that can bring stability and confidence back to your school.
No matter what your journey has entailed, I am here to help.
Okay, I love data. I love analyzing whole-school data, identifying trends, and following them on a thread to slowly pull. I also enjoy exploring whole-school curriculum approaches. In the past, I've engaged in these activities, and frankly, many excellent school improvement partners can assist you with that, often as part of your MAT or council offer for school improvement.
However, my true passions lie elsewhere. I have two: I live and breathe writing, writing processes, writing moderation, and everything related to writing. People often seem fearful of writing because it is so subjective; there is no set way to do it, and let’s face it, it’s not as prescriptive as maths in the National Curriculum.
My second passion is cognitive and neurosciences. My fascination with the human brain and how we behave, cope, perceive, and reflect in the teaching industry is significantly overlooked in terms of staff wellbeing and work-life balance. This is where educational coaching can make a profound impact.
My own experiences with menopause, along with research and theory from nurses, gynecology specialists, and industry experts, have inspired me to create my menopause awareness training. Wellbeing training, including menopause awareness, should be an essential part of your offer to your staff.
So, in a nutshell, what I don’t do is your bog-standard school improvement stuff. I focus on initiatives that will truly make a difference to everyone on your team, including the children. Because that’s why we’re all here.
